Markovian Chant

I once scraped a lot of the Gregorian melodies from the wonderful Gregobase and attempted to procedurally generate new chant melodies using Markov chains. This is the result. The mode labelled “Namárië” is of course from a different source, namely the J.R.R. Tolkien and Donald Swann collaboration to set some of Tolkien’s poems to music. Of these, the piece Namárië was unique in that it was Tolkien’s own proposed melody, in a plainchant-like style.
